Silvera interior and furniture brand opens London flagship

Admirers of high-end design, there’s a new showroom in town — and although a French import it’s very much a global force. Already well established in France, Silvera was launched in 1990 by siblings Paul and Fabienne Silvera and owns 10 showrooms across Paris. Now the family behind it has expanded to London, opening a two-storey flagship on the King’s Road in Chelsea just across the road from luxury showrooms for Italian furniture brand Poliform and Turkish rug specialists Stepevi.

It’s designed by leading architectural firm Jouin Manku headed up by Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku, which has created previous Silvera stores plus many notable projects for Alain Ducasse, Van Cleef & Arpels, not forgetting the Mayfair Park Spa for The Dorchester Collection in London.

Silvera chose London as its first foreign outpost because of the capital’s thriving design scene. «It’s one of the strongest on the international market and we love the vibrancy and positive energy of this city as well as the proximity to Paris via the Eurostar,» says Brigitte Silvera, wife of Paul and director of the brand. «We previously had a small office in Clerkenwell which allowed us to discover the London market.»

Customers will find pieces by homegrown designers, such as Lee Broom whose line of lighting and accessories is on display and also lighting maestro Michael Anastassiades, who designs for French company Coedition, one of Silvera’s 500 brands. There are also plenty of luxury Italian brands on offer, from purveyors of stylish sofas and chairs Baxter and Edra to standout award-winning pieces such as the Credenza sideboard collection: a collaboration by design heavyweight Patricia Urquiola and graphic designer Federica Pepe for cutting-edge Milan store Spazio Pontaccio.

«We work with internationally renowned brands as well as young new designers and this diversity is what makes Silvera interesting,» says Brigitte. » The new store has been incredibly successful with our customers purchasing equally from all of the different brands on display. Pascal Lion’s jewellery collection has been a favourite as well as Lee Broom lighting, Hay accessories and the quirky Seletti lighting and porcelain ranges. We have also had enormous interest in the CC-Tapis collection which is customisable and displayed throughout the showroom.»

Not simply a showroom, Silvera also offers a design consultancy service with a dedicated team of interior designers on hand to assist customers with their residential projects.
